As many of you know, I recently shared some of the data from the Peptide Cr=
afters study testing the pH and benzyl alcohol content of bacteriostatic wa=
ter being sold on Amazon. Only 2 of 11 products passed. I=E2=80=99ll link t=
he full study below.
Now it looks like Amazon may be pulling bac water from the platform entirel=
y.
There are two ways to read this:
The FDA is cracking down on bacteriostatic water sales
Amazon looked at their own inventory and realized half of it was garbage th=
at never should have been listed in the first place
Honestly, both could be true. And given that the Peptide Crafters data show=
ed most of what was being sold didn=E2=80=99t even meet basic pH or benzyl =
alcohol standards, option 2 feels pretty warranted.
My take: I don=E2=80=99t think Amazon comes back to this category. Their su=
pplement listing requirements are notoriously difficult to pass, from what =
supplement company owners have told me, and I don=E2=80=99t think they have=
 the infrastructure or the education to properly vet bac water quality the =
way they=E2=80=99d need to. COA review for something like this is not in th=
eir wheelhouse.
The silver lining is that the bac water being sold there wasn=E2=80=99t som=
ething you should have been buying anyway. Most of the vendors in our commu=
nity carry it, and you know exactly what you=E2=80=99re getting from them.
