Good question came in recently and it=E2= =80=99s worth covering for anyone new to research.

You=E2=80=99re setting up a research session and you g= o to draw from your first vial =E2=80=94 but there=E2=80=99s only half a = dose left, maybe less. What do you do=3F

Here=E2=80=99s the simple answer: don=E2=80=99t panic,= and don=E2=80=99t combine vials in the same syringe.

The Right Way to Handle It

  1. Draw = whatever is left in the original vial into your research syringe

  2. Resea= rch with that partial amount first

  3. Dispo= se of that vial and all used supplies

  4. Grab = fresh supplies =E2=80=94 new syringe, new needle, everything

  5. Recon= stitute or draw from your new vial fresh

That=E2=80=99s it. Clean break between the two.

Why Not Just Combine Them=3F

This is where it gets a little sciency, but it=E2=80=99= s important to understand =E2=80=94 especially if you=E2=80=99re new.

When you reconstitute a peptide vial with bacteriostat= ic water, you=E2=80=99re creating a sterile solution. Bacteriostatic wate= r contains a small amount of benzyl alcohol, which is specifically design= ed to inhibit bacterial growth and extend the usable life of that solutio= n =E2=80=94 typically six to eight weeks when stored properly.

But here=E2=80=99s the thing: the moment you start dra= wing from that vial, you=E2=80=99re introducing a needle into that enviro= nment repeatedly over weeks. Even with the best sterile technique, the in= tegrity of that original vial degrades over time. The pH can shift. Trace= contaminants can accumulate. It=E2=80=99s been open and accessed multipl= e times.
